The truth about fats

A nutrient used for centuries, in a smarter form

PrimRose is a nutraceutical built around an extremely potent nutrient used for centuries in indigenous cultures and traditional medicine: evening primrose oil, a natural oil rich in Omega-6 and especially in GLA, gamma-linolenic acid.

We invite you to watch the webinar hosted by Angelina Cozma: The truth about fats, the key to health, energy and inflammation. It is a resource in which you will discover how quality fats are not the enemy but one of your body's most important allies, for energy, hormonal balance and control of chronic inflammation.

Smart support through quality fats

Evening primrose oil is a natural source of gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a rare fatty acid that is often forgotten, yet has a major impact on fighting inflammation and on the fine-tuning of the immune, hormonal and nervous systems. GLA belongs to the Omega-6 family and is derived from linoleic acid (LA) through the action of the delta-6-desaturase enzyme.

Although in theory it can be obtained through diet, in the modern world this enzyme is frequently inhibited, by stress, sugar, alcohol, aging, nutritional deficiencies or chronic inflammation, which blocks the conversion.

Chronic inflammation: a problem of modern society

Chronic inflammation is an invisible problem, yet a very real one: a smoldering fire in the body that, while it causes no immediate devastation, leads to serious problems over time. Fundamentally, inflammation is a normal process, a defense mechanism. In the bodies of people living a modern life, however, the inflammatory process no longer switches off, and so it becomes chronic. Processed foods high in sugar, trans fats and additives, constant stress, poor sleep quality, a disrupted circadian rhythm, a sedentary lifestyle, air pollution, microplastics, toxins from the environment and from the products we use, together with an imbalanced microbiome, are unfortunately the hallmarks of modern life, and the causes of chronic inflammation.

Fight inflammation optimally and efficiently, not by suppressing it. Chronic inflammation is implicated in almost every condition that has been on the rise in recent history: diabetes, cardiovascular disease, autoimmune conditions, Alzheimer's, burnout, chronic fatigue and digestive disorders. An optimal, steady intake of GLA helps the body manage its inflammatory response without inhibiting the natural, beneficial anti-inflammatory processes that support healing. By providing support at the cellular level, optimizing the activity of mitochondria and cells, and improving the structure, flexibility and permeability of their membranes so that every process they take part in runs more smoothly, PrimRose becomes a pillar of support for the proper functioning of your body.

The benefits of GLA from PrimRose

Cellular health

GLA supports the cell membrane, repairing its structure where needed and making it more flexible and more resistant to oxidative stress. It acts as an internal antioxidant shield, reducing the damage caused by free radicals. This flexibility is crucial if membrane proteins, ion channels and hormone receptors are to work correctly.

The benefits of GLA from PrimRose

Immunomodulation

GLA modulates the expression of inflammatory genes, reducing the production of cytokines such as IL-6 and TNF-α, molecules involved in chronic inflammation and autoimmunity. In doing so, it helps regulate inflammation without suppressing it completely. Inflammation is essential in the response to infection or injury; it only becomes harmful when it turns chronic.

The benefits of GLA from PrimRose

Hormonal balance

In women, a GLA deficiency is easy to spot: premenstrual syndrome, intense menstrual pain, irregular cycles and early perimenopause. GLA supports the synthesis pathways of prostaglandins, the lipid messengers that play an essential role in regulating the menstrual cycle and hormonal transitions. Studies have shown that women who supplemented with evening primrose oil (rich in GLA) experienced less menstrual pain, better emotional stability and a reduction in menopause-related symptoms.

This nutrient is often associated with women's health, largely because of the hormonal support it provides. In reality, though, hormones are not only about reproduction. Prostaglandins influence blood pressure, vascular tone, metabolism, the stress response and even mental health. PrimRose therefore supports hormonal and physiological balance in both sexes.

The benefits of GLA from PrimRose

Support for the nervous system

DGLA (dihomo-γ-linolenic acid) integrates into the membranes of nerve cells, stabilizing their lipid composition, allowing better electrical conductivity and protecting the nerves against inflammation and degradation.

Mitochondrial support and energy

GLA also has an indirect but essential effect on the mitochondria. By maintaining the integrity of their membranes and the correct lipid composition, GLA contributes to:

  • improving energy levels, as a result of better use of fatty acids as a fuel source
  • protecting the cellular redox process, the balance between the production and the neutralization of free radicals
  • creating a more resilient mitochondrial environment, capable of producing ATP efficiently

Why Evening Primrose Oil?

The needs of the modern body call for supplementation with healthy Omega-6 fats. After extensive research, we chose evening primrose oil as an efficient and bioavailable source of GLA.

Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA)

GLA is not just 'another Omega-6'. It is a key molecule that finely regulates some of the most important processes in life:

  • Cell membranes: their integrity
  • Inflammation and immunity
  • Hormonal balance
  • Nervous system repair
  • Mitochondrial function

Evening Primrose Oil (Oenothera biennis)

Cold-extracted from the seeds

Evening primrose oil comes from the plant Oenothera biennis, known commonly as evening primrose, and has been used for centuries by North American indigenous communities for healing. The oil, rich in gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a rare but essential nutrient for cellular balance, is extracted from its seeds.

Helping the body run as it was designed to. Evening primrose oil (EPO) is a natural cell-membrane nutrient, able to reduce inflammation and support the management of chronic inflammation, stabilize hormones, protect the nerves and support mitochondrial energy. In short, it helps the body function optimally, as it was designed to, despite the disruptive factors you face every day, reducing fatigue, increasing vitality and performance, improving health at the cellular level, and supporting internal processes through hormonal balance and neurological support.
